It’s Personal

I have thought long and hard about the tough issue of allowing someone into your home for an extended period of time to help you with the extremely personal activities of daily living (ADL’s as the ‘professionals’ say.)

Most of us do not want to admit or ask for help with something that we have been doing by ourselves since preschool. We would simply prefer to struggle through our daily routine keeping added assistance on the other side of the door.

But sometimes this is not the wisest position to take; it is difficult to admit that perhaps we need guidance for those everyday tasks that previously we took for granted.

Personal Communication for Private Care

At A-1 Action we have always believed that talking to our clients about their needs is the best, most direct way to gain an understanding of how we can make your life more pleasant and meaningful.

We don’t want to email or text you back and forth trying to guess the inflection in these typed messages and thus perhaps start with a poor understanding of your needs.

Although the modern way of communication is useful and expedient in some cases, it does not replace a human conversation – one where the tone is heard, not guessed at, and where questions can be asked and answered in “real time.”

I find if we truly make a meaningful connection it enables us to more easily prepare to help and show our clients that we truly do care. We want to know about your background and your interests, what you did for a living and your hobbies.

This helps us understand your needs and makes it easier to find the best possible match of a caregiver to lend you a hand.

Personal and Meaningful Connections

We have developed thousands of relationships over the last 40 plus years, and for this, we feel so blessed. It never ceases to amaze us about the backgrounds and accomplishments our clients have made during their lives.

We have helped dignitaries, farmers, inventors, lawyers, bankers, journalists, homemakers, and countless prominent families. Each has had meaningful and fulfilling lives and we want them to be treated with the respect and care they deserve for their countless contributions to society.

We realize very clearly it is not your number one choice to have a stranger coming into your home to help you with personal hygiene, dressing or meal preparation.

I know this first hand as my grandparents needed help for a short period of time when they were in their 90’s. I distinctly remember my grandfather asking in a very stern tone, “How long is that lady going to have to be in our house?”

In fact, one of my dear clients had used three other home care agencies before contacting our company. She remarked, … “When I called you guys it was refreshing, and I felt immediately saved! … Mark, maybe other people need that (level of understanding) because in the beginning, it can be overwhelming for the families.”

Expert and Compassionate Care

Not to say that we have all of the answers, but we do have decades of experience helping people navigate this difficult, personal territory.

Quite simply, our service provides a personal connection in helping and caring for your beloved family member. I hope you will let us help you too when the need arises.
